Generic - Všeobecný termín používaný na opis skupiny produktov alebo položiek, ktoré spolupracujú pri poskytovaní produktu alebo služby.
ITIL - Všeobecný termín používaný na opis skupiny konfiguračných položiek, ktoré spolupracujú pri poskytovaní IT služby alebo rozpoznateľnej časti IT služby. Konfigurácia sa používa aj na popis nastavení parametrov pre jednu alebo viacero položiek konfigurácie.
PPM - Všeobecný výraz používaný na opis skupiny produktov alebo položiek, ktoré spolupracujú pri dodávaní produktu alebo služby. Konfigurácia môže byť položkou konfigurácie väčšej konfigurácie.
